LAUNCH

Today Parmalat came to our school to talk about the dairy industry and to launch the Archibull project. Students from Chifley public, Malabar public, Soldiers Settlement and Matraville Public were there. Our Principal Ms Walker introduced us to the dairy people and then they began the official launch.

They spoke about what we were going to do in the project and about the role that dairy cows and farmers play in Australia. After they finished talking we went outside and took promotional photos with the cows. When we finished with the photos we got free milk and yogurt. YAAAAY!

Today was a very fun day because a lady came out and talked to us about cows and what cows produce and what you can make out of milk and how much milk cows can produce milk in a day. Learning about this was so good because some of us did know much about cows and what they eat such as hay, grass, oats, maize, Lucerne. When cows have their calf they take them away from there mum and looks after them so they dont catch any diseases and they feed them two when they have their calf they have to be checked 2 times a day. There is so many different cows such as Holstein, Jersey, aussie red, Illawarra, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and much more and because we were lucky at the end we got milk and yogurt.
