BIG IDEAS - planning

MAKING MODELS - taking 2D to 3D

Milk cartons
Milk cartons first came to Australia in 1958, when the Model Dairy in Melbourne began packaging milk in 150 ml and 500 ml Tetra Pak tetrahedron-shaped cartons.

DESIGN PLAN:
Mattoo’s journey - Farm to fridge
Art influences = pop art
FARM
Side 1:
One side is the topographical map of the dairy regions of NSW. The Aboriginal dot paint styles represent our community colours and relax but cool colours to represent the east coast.
Inside:
The abstract Aboriginal style represents the process of turning grass into milk inside a cow.
Base:
The base shows a conveyer belt that represents the industrial packaging side of the dairy industry. The cartons were inspired by the pop art movement in style and colour. The spell out “Extraordinary Dairy” promotes the theme for this year.
Side 2:
The outside of a fridge represents the finished process and the final destination in the milks journey to your fridge. The logo is the especially designed “MATTOOO” logo representing our school.
Inside:

The projector inside the cow playing our movies and animations was inspired by the study and research about the dairy industry.
